KC Republic Makeup Brush Drying Towers Review

Disclaimer: I received the products in this post in exchange for a review on Amazon. This is my complete honest opinion, I refuse to lie to my readers. This was also my choice to post this review here.

Today I have an awesome pair of products to show you all! They are the KC Republic makeup brush drying towers from Lashes and cosmetics. I have a LOT of makeup brushes and it is always a pain for me to dry them. I typically would put them into cups to dry...but then I would have to wait forever for therm to dry and worry about water messing with the glue and loosening bristles. Yeah, fun stuff! So when I was given the opportunity to try these I jumped at it.

The towers arrived packaged like so. They did need assembly but they were very easy to assemble; I like that I can disassemble these and put therm back in their respective boxes when not in use.

Ignore the bubbles that appear on the pieces, it seems there was a film attached that I forgot to remove ._______. . The pieces are made of acrylic plastic though one of the pieces is cardboard with plastic.

This is the square shaped tower, it holds 26 brushes and as you can see it has a variety of holes of different sizes for  brushes to sit in.

The circular tower assembled. This one also has a variety of holes and holds 14 brushes.

The towers are sturdy and don't wobble when put on a flat surface. They also look great.

How do they fair when holding brushes? I washed my makeup brushes and put them through the top fave down. It grips my brushes very well! I don't have to worry about them falling through and now my brushes can dry faster!

Overall, I am very impressed by these makeup brush towers and they work wonderfully. I'm not only happy to use these for my own brushes, but I'm also excited to use them to hold my makeup brushes while working with clients. I could also bring these to Connecticon with me to help me while applying makeup for my cosplays!

You can purchase both towers on Amazon via these links:

Thank you to Lashes and Cosmetics for sending me these wonderful products to test out!

Cosplay & Convention Planning

Hi everyone! Life has been chaotic so I haven't posted in a while. I am absolutely freaking out over The Walking Dead finale! I literally hyperventilated there at the end with how intense the final ten minutes were. I am absolutely LIVID over the cliffhanger. Now we have to wait until October to find out who died! Ughhh.

Aside from working on both of the books that I'm writing, I've been starting to plan for Connecticon. Even though it isn't until July, I am thoroughly OCD about packing and such so I'm getting a head start; it's a good idea on my part because packing for a con is overwhelming!! I am attempting to save whatever sanity I have left haha.

I also am working on planning and gathering pieces for my cosplays. This is equally overwhelming, especially as someone who hasn't made an entire costume before and as someone who turns into a perfectionist at times. I did stick with two fairly easy characters, but I hadn't realized just how much things start to add up when making a cosplay. I am so glad that I have started gathering pieces this early! I am still at the beginning stages, but the app Cosplanner is already being a huge help.

You can list all of the cosplays you are working on - I am planning to cosplay as Usagi from Sailor Moon Crystal and Marceline from Adventure Time. The other two cosplays are my boyfriend's, which I'm helping him with.

Yes, I convinced him to be Mamoru! *^*.....he's a keeper 💜. You can list all of the pieces you need to make and buy for each cosplay and you can add notes, tasks and reference photos.

I highly recommend spending the 99 cents on the pro upgrade so that you can add more reference pictures. This app is not only helping me to stay organized and keep track of what I need, but it also will keep me from buying the wrong supplies while on the go.

Another app that is a huge help for me so far is Pack your Suitcase. You can make lists for what you need to pack for a trip with sub categories. I will have SO many things to pack so this will keep me from tearing my hair out.

I have beautiful custom icons *^* I use the app CoCoppa to customize my icons.

Pinterest, Tumblr and YouTube help a lot as well. I have been researching Con tips and suggestions of things to bring with me. This has been exceptionally helpful with planning my con survival backpack and cosplay repair kit. I have never been to a con before so as I always do,I'm doing a ton of research so that I can be prepared as much as I can be.

My question to you all is what convention tips do you have?

And tomorrow Sailor Moon Crystal season 3 premiers!! I am so excited!

I hope you all survived the Walking Dead finale and are having a lovely evening!

Review: Valentia Clear Lift Revitalizing Serum

Disclaimer: I was given this product for free in exchange for a review, but this is my 100% honest opinion. I do not hype a product just to make a brand happy.

Hello my dears! Here is a quick review post for you all today. I was asked by Valentia and the website Tomoson to write a review on this product. Now if you've been here a while then you know that I LOVE skincare. And I'm willing to try most products. I've been obsessed with using serums lately, so I was quite excited to try this one.

I lost the box in which this product arrived in so unfortunately The bottle boasts that this serum contains a "unique blend of botanicals, essential oils and vitamins which support nine key signs of youthful, vibrant skin." It claims to keep skin more hydrated and smoother than ever as well as even toned and resilient to future damage. It is cruelty and paraben free as well as suitable for all skin types.

Valentia did provide me with some information on this product, which goes as follows:

All Valentia products are made with Natural & Organic Ingredients.

Valentia Clear Lift Revitalizing Serum - A potent and luxurious lactic acid serum that supports natural circulation for an  all over youthful and refreshed complexion. This Revitalizing Serum Will:
- Renew texture & tone
- Deeply moisturize
- Minimize fine lines
- Increase elasticity
- Brighten & Plumbs Fine Lines
- Evens Hyperpigmentation

Specially selected ingredients work together to achieve optimum results.- Wakame Bioferment (Seaweed): Increases skin oxygen consumption to detoxify and boost antioxidant defense.
- Gotu Kola: Lessens the appearance of scars and increases skin firmness.
- Lactic Acid: A natural Alpha Hydroxy Acid (AHA) that increases skin cell turnover, for healthier renewed skin.
- Licorice: Lightens unwanted pigmentation and corrects skin discoloration.
- Argan Oil: Naturally rich in Vitamin E, this oil reduced water loss and protects skin's resiliency and elasticity.

It comes in a dark amber glass bottle with a plastic pump. I really enjoy the packaging, it makes it much easier to dispense product and I don't have to worry about spilling product like I do with my serums that come with a dropper top. I do however hope Valentia works on their label. The lettering aside from their logo and the name of the product is difficult to read; at least on my bottle.

So how did this product really work? I am just 22 years old (23 next month) so I don't really have wrinkles yet save for some creases near my eyes. I am slowly rotating anti-aging products into my skincare regimine though to prevent aging before it happens. The golden rule I have always heard is to start using anti-aging products by 25 to prevent wrinkles. Anyway, since I am in my early 20s and still look like a teenager I can't really speak for that aspect of this product.

I can say though, that I really like how this makes my skin feel. It does feel more hydrated and smoother after use. It does not dry and leave my face feeling tight like some serums have done. It feels lovely on my skin

Check out http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01AHWTME0 to purchase.

There you have it! I hope you all have a lovely day!

January & February Watch List

Hiiiiii everyone!!! I meant to have more posts up the last two months than I actually posted, I have a bunch of drafts saved too....just most of my focus as of late has been trying to work on my goals for the year (because I refuse to say resolutions. I never keep resolutions.) My two top ones being to be healthier - to work out a lot, eat better and to actually attend checkups with my doctor . The other being  to take better care of my skin. Both goals have been going great so far, I've been kicking ass in the workout department (lost like 10 pounds last month, yaaaaay!!) and I started another medication in attempt to better control my asthma. I have been given a bunch of skincare products to try out in exchange for website reviews  that I've been using every day so that has been going well too. My skin hasn't been this nice since high school! I've just been trying to make more of an attempt at making myself happy and improving myself. In 2015, I basically broke and I had to slowly put the pieces back together. Now, I feel like a newer evolved self.  I want 2016 to be my year, I refuse to be miserable for a fourth year in a row. And I refuse to allow people to treat me like and make me feel like I'm garbage. What have your goals for the year been? Anyone make progress? Comment and let me know!

My life has also gotten a lot crazier, I now have a boyfriend! ^____^. We met via a mutual close friend on Facebook. Our first date was the day after Valentines day; we met downtown and went for pizza and to some of the local shops. We have a really cool and quirky toy store with toys for just about everyone. They have an adult section with things such as "grow a girlfriend", adult books, spell candles and incense. They have Pop figures, kooky kitchen gadgets, Doctor Who collectibles and a lot of other things. We were looking through the adult coloring books when we came across one called Secret Japan. I freaked out....why? It had one page dedicated to Sailor Moon. Knowing how much I love Sailor Moon he bought it for me for that one page. I will never forget that 💜. It was a great date which lead to the beginnings of our relationship. He's as total sweetheart and he's really funny. Some people say he's a male version of me. I'm just very happy ^__^

So yeah, that has been my life. Now onto the point!

Today I'll be introducing a new monthly series here called the watch list. Hopefully I can keep up with it better than recent animes! The concept is simple - each month I will discuss some shows that I binge watched or watched weekly during the month. I had to combine last month with this month because I forgot to post this last month.

Durarara x2

I rung in the new year by watching pretty much the entire season of Durarara x2 ten (why must they make this title so confusing? -_-). If you're a fan of the Drr! Series this is a must to watch. It's pretty interesting how things in Ikebukero escalate from the end of season one. I won't say much else to avoid spoilers, but you just have to watch it.

Parasyte

I still have yet to finish this show, but I binge watched about 15 episodes of this in January. For those that don't watch Toonami or even know what this is about, it's about a teenage boy that becomes infected by a parasyte with an intelligent mind of its own. It is a really fucked up show.

Empire

My mom got me into this show after watching it herself. I spent a long day at the mall and she was watching it when I got home; too worn out to complain I watched a few episodes with her and really got into it. This show is about the famous Luscious Lyon, CEO and founder of Lyon dynasty a record label. He finds out that he has ALS and must name a successor from his three sons to his empire and fortune. His ex wife, Cookie who went to prison in her husband's place returns after her sentence was ended. She finds that the record label she started with him had grown and that Luscious has a girlfriend. Cookie will stop at nothing until she gets her half of the company back. It is a really good show, it is a drama for those of you not into dramas. I typically am not a fan of rap or hip hop, I really dig so!e of the music in this show though! The girl group that  Cookie puts together has a song called "Do it" that I adore and omg don't even get me started on Jamal's voice! It is heavenly!

South park

I got Hulu Plus at the end of December. When I want to relax and watch something that doesn't require much concentration I will watch cartoons. I grew up on South Park and watched it with my dad a lot. Hulu has all of the seasons, so holy nostalgia I had to watch some old episodes that Comedy Central doesn't air anymore.

New Girl

On a whim I checked this out on Netflix and ended up loving it. Zoey Deschanel's character, Jess is my spirit animal. She's really adorable, quirky and funny. This show is about school teacher Jessica Day, she had a bad breakup after catching her boyfriend cheating on her. She lived with him, so she needed a new place to live. She answers an ad on Craig's list from a group of guys looking for a roommate. Jess makes the cut and moves in, the show is all about their dysfunction living together.

I hope you all had a great start to your year. What shows did you start watching in January? Comment and let me know!

X Files

Although I didn't see every episode of the original X Files, I am a fan of it so of course I had to see this newest season. It was really good! My favorite episode was with the wolf man. The ending of the season was total bullshit though, they had better make more episodes!!!

Hey Arnold

I watch a lot of cartoons.....I found Hey Arnold on Hulu Plus and ended up marathoning it. I love 90s Nicktoons

Adventure Time

Hulu Plus has EVERY episode, except for the latest season. I hadn't seen the older episodes in a long time so I've been watching a lot of Adventure Time.

Pretty Little Liars

I'm a long time viewer who has kept up with the show since I was 16/17. After the shocker of the last season (or is it the first half of the season?) I highly anticipated the recent episodes. The show jumped 5 Years from where we left off. I have to say, I'm not disappointed it has been really interesting.

Teen Mom OG

YES I watch this!! I love the original Teen Mom, it's one of the few reality shows that I will watch. I hate Teen Mom 2 though. I always have a lot of fun watching this show. I was so happy because my favorite on the show, Catelynn finally got married to her long time fiance.

There you have it, the shows I've been watching. I'm also watching The Walking Dead, Mob Wives (RIP Big Ang), and of course Bob's Burgers. What shows have you been watching? Comment and let me know!

Simply Earth Essential Oils - Review & Their Cause

Today I'm going to review and discuss a brand I'm not only loving, but that I feel you all should know about! It's called Simply Earth - they make essential oils and various other products such as air freshener and foot odor eliminator with essential oils. I first discovered them when they were having a referral promotion for the launch of their essential oil line and I won some oils. I was SO extremely excited to try these oils. I recently started working with essential oils not only in my Wiccan practices but also in my daily life.

Now what makes this company so special vs. other essential oil makers? They are the kindest and most caring company I have ever come across. Their goal isn't just to make money, their goal is to help people! They not only strive to raise awareness for different causes but they also donate portions of their profits. 13% of their total profits goes towards ending human trafficking. Why that particular number? The average age of human trafficking victims is 13. And if that weren't wonderful enough, they also choose a different charity each month and donate 7.5% of their profits to that. I asked Simply Earth's co- founder, Lee Veldkamp what inspired him to sell essential oils and to donate the proceeds to charity. His response was:

"I'm a serial entrepreneur with a big heart for people. I just saw a need to connect beauty products with a bigger cause. You have these brands doing "real beauty" and then they use fake models or what not and it just makes me angry. We wanted to create something that was really authentic and gave back to protect woman's beauty.
And essential oils because they are so much for DIY beauty and home cleaning products and they smell amazing."

It really is true that Mr. Veldkamp and the rest of the Simply Earth company have big hearts. In every email I have received as being a member of their World Changers Club as well as every correspondence I have had with them, they have gone above and beyond for their customers to ensure that their needs are met and that they're happy. They even have a 100% satisfaction guarantee. Not that I ever think anyone will have to use that policy.

My experience with Simply Earth essential oils has been nothing short of great.
Lemongrass, Peppermint and Orange

Grapefruit, Frankincense, Lavender and Eucalyptus

Camphor, Lemon, Bergamot and Pine

In my initial oils from them, I received Peppermint, Grapefruit, Camphor, Eucalyptus, Lemongrass, Frankincense, Lavender, Lemon, Bergamot, Orange, and Pine essential oil. I also received a bottle of their Lavender Vanilla air freshener.

Oregano, Rosemary, Myrrh and Tea Tree

I then was given the opportunity to receive some more oils in exchange for an honest review. This time I received Tea Tree, Myrrh, Oregano and Rosemary.

Every single oil has smelled amazing! They definitely aren't lying when they claim that their oils are undiluted and 100% pure. There are definitely no additives here! I have found that the "menthal like" oils - such as Camphor, Peppermint and Eucalyptus are especially strong.

The packaging is wonderful! All oils are packaged in dark amber glass bottles with droppers built into the neck of the bottle. I know I prefer bottles with this design, it's less messy and easier to use. I should also note that the bottles are good quality and they feel sturdy! Each bottle is also carefully labeled, revealing what each oil is as well as scent, origin, plant parts and ingredients. My only complaint is that there are no labels on the bottle caps as well, but that is no large issue. I can easily label them myself.

                                     How do they smell?

Peppermint - Described as "Sharp and Minty", it definitely is a strong, slightly sweet mint.

Grapefruit- Described as " Bitter Citrus", to me it smells like a freshly cut grapefruit

Camphor- Described as "Penetrating Camphor", to me it's like a slightly woodier Eucalyptus.

Eucalyptus - Described as " Herbal and Woody", I'm not sure about woody, but it definitely smells herbal. It has that classic medicinal scent.

Lemongrass- Described as "Earthy and Citrus", that is an accurate description, however it also has a sweet aroma to it.

Frankincense- Described as "Spicy and Woody", it is definitely woody with a hint of spice.

Lavender- Described as " Floral and Fruity", this smells like straight up soothing Lavender to me.

Lemon- Described as "Sweet and Lemony", it's like a freshly cut lemon or freshly squeezed lemon juice.

Bergamot- Described as " Citrus, Spicy and Floral", it is very citrusy with a hint of floral.

Orange- Described as "Sweet, Citrus", it is like a freshly cut orange.

Pine- Described as " Evergreen and Woody", this oil smells extremely earthy but it doesn't smell like the classic Pine scent I've known.

Tea Tree- Described as "Medicinal and Woody", this is a perfect description. It has a scent similar to Eucalyptus but more woody and earthy.

Rosemary- Described as " Woody and Herbal", it certainly smells herbal; like rosemary herbs.

Myrrh- Described as "Balsamic and Fresh", The scent reminds me a bit of vinegar (I guess hence the balsamic), but sweeter.

Oregano- Described as " herbal, peppery", it totally smells like oregano herbs to me.
                                Do they work? Absolutely.

Some of you that have been here for a while know I suffer from ear issues - the pressure in my eustachian tubes (the middle ear tubes that equilize the pressure of your ear drums)  is screwed up due to what I'm sure is permanent eustachian tube dysfunction, because of that I have tinnitus in one ear. One evening, one of my ears was feeling congested and it was really irritating me. So I mixed a single drop of peppermint oil and I diluted it with a carrier oil. I applied some to the back of my ear and down my neck, as well as on a cotton ball that I gently placed to my ear (never actually put drops of essential oil into your ear). Within minutes my ear felt a lot better. I have also successfully helped an upset stomach with this Peppermint oil.

For muscle aches I have mixed the Eucalyptus and Camphor oils; though it didn't take all of the pain away it definitely eased it.

My favorites so far are the Lavender and Lemongrass. They are wonderful for stress and anxiety! When I was having some minor anxiety attacks, I mixed them and used them for good old fashioned aromatherapy. It totally helped a of to calm me. My mother and I have also found that using the Lavender oil for aromatherapy helps us to sleep.

My mom commonly complains of itching on her surgery scar (it's over a year old) and she has never really been able to soothe it. I mixed some drops of Eucalyptus and Peppermint oils with lotion and had her apply it - this stuff got rid of the itch for the rest of the night!!

I used the Tea Tree oil on my scalp to help with dandruff. After generously applying mixed with a carrier oil, massaging it into my scalp and leaving it for about 24 hours before washing my hair, I definitely noticed a difference - I didn't see flakes everywhere!

I used the Oregano oil when I had a post workout asthma attack and it really helped.

As for the air freshener - I love it, it smells so good and it is formulated without parabens or phthalates. The ingredients are clearly stated, easy to understand and not loaded with mysterious chemicals. I love spraying my pillows and sheets, it makes them smell amazing. My only complaint is that the scent doesn't seem to last all that long. But it is effective.

For those that don't know, parabens are a series of chemical compounds frequently used by pharmaceutical and cosmetic companies to preserve products and prevent bacterial growth. Phthalates are a group of chemicals used to make plastics more flexible and harder to break. Some believe that these chemicals can cause cancer. Personally that's all I know on the topic, but I sure wouldn't want to be putting a chemical used to soften plastics onto my face. Imagine what that could do to your skin! O____O

I completely appreciate this company's care of what goes into their products, as well as being cruelty free. I know if I see that on a product, it makes me much more likely to purchase it. I love animals!
My fur babies 💜

For clarification - I am being 100% honest on this review as I always am in all of my posts. I do not lie or over hype things for the sake of pleasing others.

That being said, I completely recommended you all checking out and buying all of your essential oils from Simply Earth! Not only will you receive high quality oils at a low, reasonable price (unlike other companies that charge $30 for a small bottle for even the simplest oil to extract) but you will be helping people and potentially saving lives. What's cooler than that? I know they have made a life long customer in me for all of my essential oil needs. When I have the money, I'm planning to order an oil or two to try to help my tinnitus. To the lovely employees at Simply Earth, thank you so much for allowing me to try your oils and for increasing my obsession. Also...please make a Rose and/or a Rose Geranium oil!!

You can learn more about Simply Earth at Simplyearth.com, you can order directly from their website or on Amazon.com (just search Simply Earth oil).

Japan Crate Review

Hello my dears!! I was lucky enough to take advantage of Crunchyroll (a beloved anime streaming site I use)'s black Friday special - if you signed up for a free 30 day trial of their premium streaming service that weekend they sent you a code for a completely free Japan Crate! Japan Crate is a monthly subscription box that sends you an assortment of candies and snacks imported from Japan. I was SO excited to try this out and the 2 month wait for my crate was nearly unbearable. Japan Crate has 3 levels - mini, original and premium. I was given the original box, priced at $25 a month. They also have another subscription option, the Doki Doki box which consists of all kawaii items such as figures, plushies and accessories. I REALLY want one!

Even though  it takes me forever to get through eating all of my candy, I opened each package and sampled one of each for the sake of this post. I hardy really eat a full serving of candy/Japanese snacks in one sitting; for example when I have pocky I will take 2-3 sticks at a time. I like to savor such snacks, as I don't often get it. As for the box its self, I totally want to subscribe! The only things holding me back are finances and the fact that I'm a picky eater...maybe a box like this will open my horizons.

So what was in the January 2016 Japan Crate?

The box is so cute!! And luckily it came with a little booklet telling me what everything is; contrary to what most weeaboos believe, no we can't read Japanese.

To start with, every box contains a DIY kit, which I was excited for since I love to watch those YouTube videos of people making Poppin' Cookin' and Happy Kitchen kits ( the American counterpart being Yummy Nummies). Sadly there was a problem with this month's Gudetama DIY kit so as an apology I was given these items in the "Lucky Lottery" where each box contained 2-3 items consisting of stationary, plushies, keychains, squishies and some other things. All being twice the value of the DIY kit value. I didn't complain because the Gudetama kit had something to do with eggs....I hate eggs. Based on this alone, I would want to subscribe because this company cares so much for their customers and about sending only top quality products. They sent a few emails and posted updates on the boxes to keep us in the know. Anyway, I got this cute pen and this little squishy bread keychain/phone charm.

Next is Asahi Calpis Gummy

Apparently these gummies modeled after a popular Japanese drink.

How was it really? I really couldn't pinpoint the exact flavor of the gummy. It was sweet and some sort of fruity. I did enjoy it! The texture I had never had from a gummy, the outside a tougher chewy but the inside so soft it was nearly like a jelly.

Milk Chocolate Pocky

These pretty much are supposed to be a fancier version of standard Pocky.

How was it really? Omg these are beautiful. A more chocolatey version of the original pocky.

Hello Kitty Strawberry Pretzel

I love Hello Kitty! I totally spazzed when I saw this. My question is are these like Pretz (which I've never had)? Apparently these are like Pocky.

How was it really? Exactly like strawberry Pocky. Which is sort of confusing since it's called a pretzel... there are no pretzels.

Ju-C Short Cake

These look hella interesting! They apparently are chip like candies flavored like strawberry short cake. I love all things strawberry so I'm cool with this.

How was it really? So good! I've never had anything quite like it. It was a blast of strawberry flavor. It was like a strawberry flavored disc of sugar that dissolved quickly. I was very happy to discover it was candy and not a strawberry flavored potato chip.

Calbee Usushi Potato Chips

Apparently lightly salted chips? I'm hoping these aren't the Ume (plum) flavor that some people got.

How was it really? I was so relieved to find that indeed they are the lightly salted variety! They taste like any other lightly salted potato chip.

Sparkling Orange Gummy

I thought these were a drink mix at first, but they're orange flavored gummies.

How was it really? They tasted like Hi-C orange juice to me, really good! Based upon the scent in the package, I had expected them to taste more like actual real orange juice.

Fit's Strawberry & Cream (Ichigo Milk) gum

Yay for strawberry! This made me laugh, how random is "Look for Wally" (Where's Waldo in Japan? Oh, Japan....

How was it really? Like any other gum but strawberry flavored. It has that "sugar free gum" after taste to it. It tastes just like a strawberry gum that I have had from an American brand. It's good though! Even better, it doesn't stick to my dental fillings, which is what caused me to stop chewing gum. The flavor does become less intense after 5 minutes or so. So I wouldn't expect the flavor to last long.

Pokemon Pineapple Candy

I was excited for some anime candy! And it's Pokemon!!

How was it really? These are really cute! The wrappers have adorable Pokemon pictures on them too.  They come packaged as gum buy they're a chewy pineapple flavored candy. They are a bit hard at first but become softer and dissolve as you chew.

Yam White Chocolates

These I am most intrigued by...and most afraid to try. It's literally white chocolate mixed with sweet potato. To me it sounds strange!!

How was it really? Strangely good. Not something I would ever buy, but it tastes like white chocolate mixed with sweetened potatoes. At first I was greeted with the taste of potato, but as I ate the rest of the piece of candy it tasted more chocolatey.

Lion Rum Raison Soft Candy

For some reason this isn't listed in the booklet.

How was it really? A bit of an odd taste for me. It was like a sweet raison coated with a caramel or toffee flavor.

There you have it! Which snack would you want to try yourself? Comment and let me know! My favorites were the Pokemon candy and the strawberry shortcake candy. My least favorite? The rum raison.

A Very Sensitive & Personal Post: I am a Victim of Rape and Molestation

Today's post is a very sensitive topic to me and also very personal. As a warning, it may be a trigger to some. I went back and forth deciding if I would even write this then back and forth some more on if I would post it. I originally wrote this a year ago and it's been sitting in my phone untouched since then. I was looking for something to post today and I came across this draft. I wasn't ready to come forward so publicly with something so personal back then. But now, I feel stronger and ready to share my story.

I am honestly pouring my heart into this post, this is something I haven't been very open about (or even allowed to be open about for some time). I have never been more vulnerable on this blog. Sometimes I wanted to just let it out and others I didn't. I am not posting this to whine or for attention or for anyone to feel sorry for me. Absolutely none of the above is my intention. I am posting this because I thought that maybe my story will help someone else who has been through the same thing. I am still alive and I'm still fighting. I haven't let it take me down. But this is also for me. After years and years of internal warfare and being forced to keep the subject to myself I am allowing myself to finally be free. No more silence! I have also been working my struggle into one of the books I'm writing and if I were to get published this information would come out anyway.

Alright, here it is. I am a victim of rape and molestation. I will not get into the gruesome details, they are very difficult to me to think about let alone discuss and none of you need to know about it. I will only say that I was very young when it all happened. About 8 years old and it went on for about a year. It was a distant cousin that put me through all of this.

I used to stay with my grandma all the time when my parents worked. She lives next door to me so it was always really convenient. At the time when this began a group of distant cousins - two grandparents, parents and their children all stayed in one spare room at my grandma's house. They picked up and moved a lot, getting in trouble with money or screwing people over and every time they came back, they cried to my grandma for help. My grandma has a hard time saying no to people and has a large heart so she allowed them to stay in a spare room until they got a place of their own. They had 3 somewhat children around my age, two girls (3 and 13/14) and a boy (12). I used to play with them a lot after school, especially the boy (I won't use names). We would run around both yards (both connected and large) playing "Harry Potter" and pretending to duel each other. I don't remember exactly when it started happening, but things took a dark turn.

Him and I were often left alone outside together with no adult supervision. When he was positive no one would look for us or bother us he would drag me into the shed in my back yard and force me to do things. It then gravitated from that shed to outside in my back yard. I didn't understand it at all, but I knew it was wrong and I didn't want any part of what he made me do or made me see. I was completely powerless, especially being a young and small girl compared to him who was twice my size and nearly a teenager. He forced me to keep quiet and most probably threatened me. For a year or so I was practically his slave, completely under his power.

Luckily, one day I was freed from him. My aunt (who was probably 16 at the time) somehow found out what happened. We were very close and I trusted her a lot, so when we hung out in her room one day she asked me about it and I completely spilled everything. She was pretty much the person that saved me and she spoke up to end it.

When two other members of my family found out (who they are shall remain anonymous) I was given a lecture about how what happened was wrong and that I was forbidden to talk about it to anyone. You see, my dad had a very bad temper. He wasn't abusive, he was a fantasic awesome dad. He loved me very much. If he found out what had happened to me, he probably would have ended up in prison for murder. So I did as I was told. The cousin along with his parents, aunts, sisters and grandparents moved away. They were given the option to move or the situation be taken to the police. They moved.

As the years went on, I forgot all about it. My mind blocked it all out, which I am very thankful for and I was able to have a mostly good childhood. But, sadly when I was in middle school and in my early teens it started to come back. Just little bits and pieces at first, I wasn't sure if it was a dream or if it had actually happened. It was a very confusing time. This started my long battle with depression. I tried discussing it with a family member, but I yet again was told that I was forbidden to speak of it. So I dealt with it on my own.

Hell to this day when I try to speak to them about it, it is waved off as not a big deal because a similar thing happened to them and I still am forbidden to speak of it.

One day it just hit me hard and I remembered a giant chunk of it. I didn't know what to do and I just lost it. I felt so lost and like I was spiraling out of control. I was constantly thinking about it and crying myself to sleep. I blamed myself and felt disgusting. I dealt with it in bad ways. Although forbidden, I tried to discuss it with a few people but they didn't understand. One girl I used to be friends with had the audacity to pretend that she was raped for attention and made it all about her (I know for a fact, because she always pulled stunts like that and was exposed as a liar).

I did get through it though. One day, I just decided that I did not want him having so much power over me. I didn't want him controlling my life anymore and I was so sick of being terrified and depressed all the time. So I slowly picked up the pieces. I told myself that it wasn't my fault. That I shouldn't be scared anymore, he is gone from my life and can't hurt me anymore. That it's all over with. So as time went on, I thought about it less and less. And it bothered me less and less. I found myself not losing it every time I did think about it. I was able to carry on with my life and not let it control me. I am a survivor.

A few months to a year after my dad died, his grandparents and their son came back. When I saw them in my driveway, visiting with my grandmother I had one of the worst panic attacks of my life. I was so terrified, thinking that he would be back. He is the one person on this earth that I am absolutely horrified of. Just seeing him is a nightmare for me let alone having to talk to him. Around that time I had found him on facebook and that took me days to recover from.

Luckily, I never saw him again. I found out that he had done the same thing to another girl and was put in prison for it. Sadly, I never got justice and because of the way it was handled I never will. He lives in Tennessee now and is free. I am also pretty sure he has a daughter.

I am not completely over it, I still at 22 still struggle with it. I doubt I will ever fully be over it. It is a very traumatic and difficult thing to go through let alone at the age that I did. It's horrifying when I remember bits and pieces and think of how badly my innocence was stolen and how little I was able to comprehend the situation back then.

Anyone that has been through a similar situation will tell you that you never truly get over it. But it is easier to deal with. I still have my moments of weakness just like anyone else. I do still get random new pieces of memory coming back to me. The scene towards the end of Sword Art Online where Asuna is molested and nearly raped by Sougou was a gigantic trigger to me, it caused a very bad series of flashbacks and it was the last time that a new piece of memory came back to me. Sometimes if I am watching a show or movie with a rape scene (the more graphic, the worse it is) it will act as a trigger to me and cause me to have flashbacks. I really can't watch scenes like that even in anime. This is why I am always saying I can't handle scenes like that.

I still can't go into that shed without having problems and sadly I get forced to retrieve things from it anyway. I can however finally be in my back yard and see the shed and be totally fine.

Now, I am not sharing this for attention or for any of you to feel sorry for me. I am discussing this because I don't EVER want anyone to go through what I did. If someone has done something to you without your permission, please speak up! Even if you are told not to, go to a friend, a trusted adult or even the police. Do not keep it to yourself. Go after the piece of shit! Do not let anyone tell you that you are not allowed to talk about it. Do not be afraid, you are not at fault. Please, learn from my mistakes and reach out for help. You don't have to deal on your own. If anyone in this situation or in any situation needs to talk, I will gladly listen. One of my philosophies in life is to be there to listen to anyone in need. I spent so much of my life suffering and battling my demons on my own. I don't ever want to see anyone else feeling that way if I can help it.  You can and will get through it.

Thank you so much for reading this. It was really hard for me to write. For 14  years I have kept silent with this and told maybe a few people, but I don't even think I have ever told anyone everything. After not being allowed to talk about it for so long (my family still either 1.won't aknowledge it or 2. Refuses to discuss it) it does give me some anxiety discussing it. I admit I had some terrible anxiety after originally  writing this a year ago, just thinking about posting it. But now it feels like a weight was lifted. It means a lot that you read this, it's a huge deal for me that I finally broke my silence and I guess it proves that I'm stronger.

Xoxo
