Halloween Weekend + Cosplay

Hello my dears!! I can't believe it, I opened up Blogger to type this post up today and I saw that this blog has over 3,000 page views!!! 

I never, ever in a million years would have thought I would get so many people reading my blog. Thank you so so much from the bottom of my heart! It continuously surprises me how much people actually care about what I have to say. When I started this blog, I thought it would be cool if even 1-2 people read this blog. I was surprised when even 5 people read it. Hell, I was surprised when I started my twitter account that 10 people would follow me and be interested in my thoughts let alone the 600+ that follows me now. I was always the weird kid in school. Growing up people generally didn't care what I had to say. I continually got ignored when trying to voice opinions, I even had some people tell me "Shut up, no one cares what you think". So to have so many people care and continue to read this blog and to support me in my endeavors makes me more happy and humbled than you could ever know. 

So again, thank you so much everyone. Without your support I probably would have abandoned this blog long ago. I'll continue to do posts that interest you and to share aspects of my life with you all. You're all amazing <3.


Enough feels now, onto the post! I love when Halloween falls on a weekend day - it tends to mean that I celebrate all weekend long. At the last minute I nearly ended up losing my plans and I was unable to make new ones. That crushed me. Halloween means a lot to me. I was at the point of swearing off the holiday because every single year some sort of drama/disappointment revolving around plans. Luckily things turned out alright in the end! 

My Halloween weekend kicked off Friday, the day before Halloween. One of my close friends came over. We made cocktails, did a face mask (I'll spare you all my scary goop covered face) and watched Rocky Horror and Hellsing Ultimate. I got tipsy which was quite funny. I got cut off when I started to crack up over my own laugh. 

We tried the Game of Thrones Ale that I mentioned in a previous post. I'm not a fan of beers or rather ale so I wasn't a big fan of it. It was pretty bitter. We made cocktails called Witches' Brew which contained coconut rum, pineapple juice, cranberry juice and sprite. 

It was really good *^*. We didn't get to the vanilla vodka pictured above but I had the small bottle of marshmallow vodka and it was really good. It reminded me of UV's cake vodka. Many lewd comments at Alucard's expense were made. When my friend Beckman and I get together, the floodgates to lewdness open. Vicky usually has to deal with the aftermath...she can tell when we've hung out xD. 

I accidentally got some blood in my hair from the knife so I just went with it. 

Though we didn't do much, I felt like dressing up. This was supposed to he a creepy ghost sort of costume. I wanted to see if I could do a scary type of makeup without blood or prosthetics and still have it be creepy . And I ended up having blood in my hair anyway. Oh well! I had fun doing the makeup and taking the pictures for it. I walked around without my glasses for half the day because I really liked how this turned out.

Halloween, I spent with my friend again. We went to Home Goods in costume. I certainly got many odd looks which was hilarious! That's probably because I looked like a gothic-hooker-anime-drag queen xD.  Sadly there was an incident that ruined the mood of the day but we still had fun. We watched anime and horror movies.

For the first part of the day, I was a gothic version of Asuna from Sword Art Online. I even carried a little plushie of Kirito around with me. This costume was interesting to deal with all day. I had limited visibility because the two sets of false eyelashes I wore were so big! They also kept hitting my glasses. I need to try to get contacts before Connecticon!

Cookie fun. I made a huge batch of Halloween sugar cookies the Thursday before Halloween and I topped them with an orange icing I made.

Later in the day I did a costume change and became Sakura from Naruto. This was a spontaneous costume because I had a pink wig and the leaf headband.

I became the ultimate weeb on Halloween - we watched Sword Art Online while I was Asuna. My friend kept going "there's your husbando!" Whenever Kirito was on screen. I kept going "look I'm on TV!" When Asuna was on.

I should've watched Naruto dressed as Sakura. But that would have ended in either me telling myself to shut up....or lewd comments at Kakashi's expense.

Though my friend had to leave while the night was still young I still had fun by myself. I watched some horror movies and did some Samhain rituals. For those that don't know - Halloween evolved from Samhain. Samhain is a Wiccan holiday equivalent to the Mexican Day of the Dead; it takes place on the night of October 31st and the day of November 1st. It is where the term Halloween came from, as it was referred to as All Hallows Eve. It is the day where we honor our departed ancestors. It is when the veil between the worlds is thinnest and the dead roam the earth along with us. Samhain is also New Years to many wiccans/pagans. I just use the day to celebrate spookiness and to connect with my beloved dead. I did a few Samhain prayers and I set an extra place at the dinner table to invite a departed relative and to show them respect.

Later on in the evening I did an EVP session - my very first one where I didn't have another person in the room with me.  EVP stands for electronic voice phenomena for those that don't know. It is where you try to talk with spirits and record the session. Many times spirits can leave noises or messages on a recording that you don't hear while you are recording.The session definitely was interesting. 

This is a topic I tend to steer clear from because frankly I have no patience for skeptics. If you don't share the same belief, please kindly keep comments to yourself. My house is very haunted. So many strange and creepy things happen here nearly on a daily basis. This is what I am currently writing a book about. Many people have experienced things here, so it's not just me or in my head - some experiences with multiple witnesses.

Now I am a reasonable and intelligent person. I don't see something fall or hear a noise and automatically yell "ghost!". No I try to find a rational explanation of what happened first. But there have been SO many occurrences that simply can't be explained. On Halloween I try to connect with the spirits more in hope of having an encounter. The supernatural has always fascinated me and I consider myself an amateur ghost hunter. I do know how to handle myself and protect myself so don't worry guys! 

All weekend long I found myself giving Tarot readings from my new deck. Surprisingly 99% of them were spot on! It was getting pretty creepy actually. 

To end my Halloween, I finally watch the movie It Follows which I've been dying to see! It's a horror movie about this girl that has sex with this guy - then she finds that this thing begins to follow her. It is fairly creepy, it reminds me of the Halloween movies. It has such a unique premise! I really enjoyed it.

The aftermath of Halloween:

Lashes everywhere! At least my cats didn't eat my lashes like last year. Yes...in my house if you leave false eyelashes laying around my cats will eat them. I was so tired that I just took everything off in my living room and left it XD. 

Pumpkins I carved on November 1st because I wasn't ready to let go.

I'm going to cry this weekend when my mom forces me to take down most of my decorations.

DIY Halloween Garland

Halloween is nearly upon us! Looking for some last minute, cheap decor?  I am always looking for free and very cheap DIY projects for Halloween. I love having decorations as well as not having to spend money on them! Here is the link to the original pin: https://www.pinterest.com/pin/547539267175217121/ .

So what is this garland? Just some Halloween ornaments you make with salt dough, then decorate and hang on some string.

To make the salt dough, first I gathered all of my ingredients. You will need: salt, flour, water, a bowl, something to stir with, measuring cups, cookie cutters, a pen, a rolling pin, cookie sheets and a clean work area.

Combine 1 cup of salt...yes a whole cup of salt with 2 cups of flower. Stir well. 

Then add a cup of luke warm water. You definitely don't want to be eating this dough! 

Knead the dough until smooth. It will feel like gritty play dough. The gritty texture is because of the salt.

Next, treat the dough as sugar cookie dough. Roll out to desired thickness (not too thin but not too thick) and cut out with Halloween themed cookie cutters. 

Then lay on a cookie sheet. Take a pen and poke a hole near the top of each one.

I had some left over dough, so I got my cats to leave their pawprints so I can make them into Christmas ornaments. Don't ask me how I got them to stay still long enough! I still don't know!

Once you have all of your holes  punched and shapes prepared, either bake in the oven or air dry for a few days. If you choose to bake them, bake at 200 degrees for 1-3 hours. It depends on how thick your ornaments are.

Once done, get some acrylic paint and paint each one. I painted them by hand since I usually have some acrylic craft paint around. You could even use acrylic spray paint to save time. 

 Then get some high gloss acrylic spray paint and spray each one to preserve them and get a nice finish.

I recommend using ribbon to string the ornaments onto. I cut some pieces of ribbon in half so they would fit through the holes better, made them into ornaments. 

Next, line up your ornaments in the order you would like them to go onto the garlands. This is also useful to help measure the distance between each. I put about 5 inches between each one. 

Then tied the ornament ribbons onto a long piece of ribbon. 

Little tip, but be very careful!!! If your ribbon frays, put it close to a lighter. I used a torch lighter. The fire melts and seals in the edges. Just don't light it on fire. Or yourself. Or burn your house down. Use common sense! 

From there all you have to do is hang your garland up! There you go, a simple and cute Halloween decoration!

Trick - R - Treating

Hello everyone! This is a topic requested by my friend  Max (AKA Based Ryu).

"As for future topics, I'd love to see your take on trick - r - treating. Do you have any pregame rituals? Any fun surprises in store for the kiddies? I'm dying to know what it's like to visit your door on Halloween. Maybe you could also add your do-s and don'ts of giving out candy, if you have any. Like what are your favorite things to give? Have you ever seen a house that gives out terrible treats?" - Based Ryu

It's no secret and common knowledge at least among my offline friends that I dislike children. I'm like Winifred Sanderson from Hocus Pocus around children xD. They irritate the shit out of me and I don't do well around them. I also have a hard time staying PG not only in my attire but my language and conversation topics as well. But I do make exceptions for my little cousins that like anime and horror movies. They're pretty cool.

I typically don't answer the door for the trick r treaters. When I do, I tend to have some sort of creepy get up on and end up scaring them. Also..they annoy me haha. So people know to keep me away from the door on Halloween. Truth be told, we also don't get many trick r treaters in my neighborhood anymore, as most of the children here are my age and now grown.

So what is my house like on Halloween? It all depends on if I'm actually there! Most of the time, I'm either out partying or getting ready to go out. I make it a rule to always make some sort of plans on Halloween ever since the year my dad forced me to stay home with him and hand out candy. Who wants to do that when they're 14??

Typically I have a horror movie on or creepy music (such as Nox Arcana) playing while I get ready or have a party. There have been occasions were I've been forced to answer the door with half a face of zombie makeup and scared the crap out of a kid.

I would love to be that asshole to hide in the bushes with a chainsaw or pop out dressed as Michael Myers but we simply don't get enough trick r treaters; We get maybe 4 tops. When I was a kid, there was a house in my neighborhood where they not only decorated it to where it was horrifying but someone would hide somewhere and pop out at you. One year it was a pile of leaves. Another year they had people on stilts dressed in creepy Grim Reaper outfits.

As a kid, I was terrified of this house. I would literally get dragged to that house to get candy. Of course now I totally appreciate it. Not many people do such things to keep the spirit of Halloween. Halloween is too tame these days!

My house is always decorated inside and out. If you were to come to my door on Halloween you would see my graveyard, skeleton flamingos and all of my lights among other things. I do my best to carve pumpkins every year, always trying to do something creepy. I refuse to do a standard happy Jack O' Lantern. I admit I'm really good at pumpkin carving and every year get compliments on it.

My favorite houses as a kid were those that decorated and put effort into decorating. I am lucky enough to leave near a good sized condo community, so I used to go there to trick r treat when I was done with my neighborhood. Even some of those people with hardly any room to decorate would have some pretty cool decorations. You can even go to the dollar store for decorations. If you plan on handing out candy, decorate.

As for handing out candy - get something you like. Buy only your favorite candies. Why? If you don't get any trick r treaters or not as many as usual you get to keep it all for yourself. You don't want to keep something nasty do you?

Ladies and gentleman, please, PLEASE, PLEASE don't give out fruit, raisins or chips. That isn't what kids want on Halloween. Please stop the madness! When I was a kid, this old lady in my neighborhood used to give out oranges and pretzels for Halloween.  Everyone hated it. I had even gotten raisins and Christmas popcorn balls while trick or treating.

Seriously....kids don't want that stuff. Plus...many kids are assholes these days and their parents ignore their bratty behavior. If you give such things out on Halloween, chances are your house will get egged by someone.

Don't be stingy with your candy unless you are extremely tight with money and get a lot of kids at your door. Growing up I always hated it when someone would give you only 1-2 pieces  of candy. My dad used to give a handful to each kid when they came to our door and they were so happy! No one has ever egged our house. But maybe that's also because the kids/teens were afraid of my dad....and me.  When I was really young he would spend hours putting together treat bags for the kids in the neighborhood. I also recommend doing that.

If you don't want to give out candy, at least give out some fun little toys or jewelry. Don't be lame.

As for my favorites, I like to give out Reese's, Kit Kat Bars, Milky Ways, Snickers and Twix. Mostly because I love them. I also love Heath bars but they're pretty hard to find in fun sized in my town. As a kid everyone loved getting skittles and fun dip. Seriously fun dip was the shit.

I would not recommend putting a bowl of candy out with a sign if you  A. won't be home or B. will be too lazy to open the door to hand out candy. Do you really think the kids will listen to a sign telling them to take one piece of candy? In this generation? Hell no! If you won't be home or don't feel like getting off of your ass to hand out candy, simply don't do it. Keep your lights off. I have had friends get their houses TPed and their Halloween bowls/decor smashed because they did this and the candy ran out.

If you are still trick r treating, here are some tips for you. Hey, I won't judge. I got dragged out trick r treating when I was 20!! And people thought I was 16. There's no shame in being a teenager and still trick r treating...just don't do it in your 20's.

Do's and don'ts for trick r treaters:

- Wear comfy shoes. You'll be walking a lot and your feet will hurt

- Don't wear something you will trip over. One year it was raining and I was wearing a cape. I not only tripped over the cape, but I slid down some steps.

-Go to condos or houses where people have money. You will get a lot of candy.

-Don't bring props, you will have to carry them around all night. No one wants to do that.

-Bring a backpack so you don't have to go home to unload.

-Say thank you when you get your candy. It's so rude when someone nicely gives you candy and you don't thank them. Don't be a little shit.

-Wear an actual costume. Don't pull on fake glasses and some clothes and call yourself a nerd. You don't get good candy if you're not in costume. Don't be lazy!

-Respect people's decorations, yards and pets. It's self explanatory.



I also feel the need to mention this. Don't be that asshole to go out and vandalize things on mischief night and Halloween. Don't TP anyone's house, throw eggs or spray shaving cream. It's not cool. Growing up, the teenagers and their friends on my street completely destroyed our neighborhood. There would be toilet paper in the trees for months. Every single tree would be covered in toilet paper. My senior year of high school I almost got into a car accident because the toilet paper got stuck to the windshield of the car I was in. We couldn't see and nearly crashed into traffic. They would draw obscene things like drawings of penises and boobs  on the pavement of the road and it would stain. So I'd be stuck seeing dicks for weeks when walking to and from the bus stop. Not what I wanted to see.

It's just not cool! It puts people in danger and it hurts the environment. Before anyone asks, we had called the police many times and they never did a thing. Asshole kids.

Also, for the love of whatever deity or lack there of which you worship LEAVE THE POOR KITTIES ALONE!!!! Some terrible people actually hurt cats, especially black cats on Halloween. These people deserve to be attacked by hyperactive candy filled children...and much worse. You get the picture.

My Halloween Decor 2015 [Pic Heavy]

Yes, my kawaii zombies it's finally here!! I swear this must be my most anticipated post ever because of the amount of messages regarding it and purely because I know people want to see how I decorate for Halloween. I had hoped to post it sooner but I needed to wait until a DIY project was finished and I actually picked up a few more things this weekend. If I had an unlimited budget I swear my entire yard would look like a haunted house (but that's not to say that it isn't already).

Now my outdoor decor this year is far from grand. It is minuscule compared to last year. Sadly at least half of my lights died on me this year ;______;. I not only decorate outside but I decorate inside of my house as well. Every year I try to out do myself and make my house look like a Halloween land. This year I think I went crazier than usual. I absolutely love it though! Every single thing in this post was put up by me. I've spent many hours climbing up and down ladders, even falling from one. Some of my decor I have even made myself. 

So what would my home look like if you were to come to my door? I would like, if I may to take you on a strange journey (Hehe I couldn't resist quoting Rocky Horror). Without further ado, here we go on a blog tour of my Halloween decorations.


Starting with my outdoor decor. I have a rather large front yard, so I have a lot of room to decorate. We have some small bushes lining the walkway, I always put my lights on them.

One of the light strands I have are these really old, cute pumpkin lanterns. Here is a close up of one of the lanterns:

Along a gap between the bushes, I like to have this string of large spider lights dangle. Here they are in the daylight:

I have a few severed hands sticking out of the ground in places. They're just plastic hands from the dollar store that I stuck a chopstick into the bottom to use as a stake.

In our entryway area/pantry before the front door that goes inside to my house, I put up red string lights as well as a red light bulb. This effect was inspired by my favorite Poe story, the Masque of Red Death. In the story, there's a party where all of the rooms are illuminated with different colored lights. Everyone in the story is horrified by the red lighted room. It isn't as visible in pictures, but it is a really cool, creepy effect.

Big ass spider! Ahhhhhhhhh!!!

Inside the entryway, I have this huge ass spider and this skeleton/grim reaper looking dude. I hung the spider up a little weird this year but I was afraid of falling from the ladder I had to use >__<.

In my kitchen window, which is highly visible in the front yard I put up an orange, green, and purple light strand. I also put up these ghost and bat lights. I love them so much *^*.

In the daylight. I also have a "Graveyard entrance" sign hanging in the window. It may be a bit hard to see due to the glare. 

As I was decorating, my cat sat in the kitchen window and watched me the entire time. Here is my mom pointing at her butt. She thought it was funny because my cat kept rubbing her butt on the window. 

Here is myself with mommy dearest. We look absolutely nothing alike and I look like a ghost next to her XD. I inherited most of my features from my dad, save for my hair color. 

As for the rest of my yard, I have this graveyard. The Freddy Krueger, RIP Poe and Michael Myers ones I made myself. It is SUPER easy to make tombstones. I just used some foam board insulation we had lying around (you can easily find it at Home Depot), added some tape to it to use as a stencil and sprayed black spray paint all over it. You can use a wire hanger, chopsticks or kabob skewers as stakes. 

I also have some foam skulls surrounding the tombstones and faux barbed wire.

On this tree, next to the bush I put this inflated bat. I had to half climb the tree to put this on there! 

Pretty fall leaves *^* my neighborhood is absolutely stunning in the fall.

In front of my house, I have these wonderful skeleton flamingos. I found them on Amazon last year and absolutely had to have them.

On one side of the door, I have a small plastic skeleton. On the other, I have signs reading "Haunted House" and "Not Every Witch Lives In Salem". The latter, I made myself in a way similar to the tombstones. I also have this skeleton window thingy.

And now, onto the indoor decor. Step inside! 

In my kitchen, I have this garland that I made. There will be a post detailing exactly how you can make this.

I had a few leftover ornaments that wouldn't fit onto the garlands so I hung them over my tea shelves. 

Above the entryway to the kitchen, I put this hanging skeleton garland. 

On these shelves in my living room (formerly used to display my dad's car models), I did a sort of "mad scientist"/witch thing. I took some old "potion" bottles I made using various bottles and colored water and placed them on the shelf. I also put these candy specimen jars I never opened and used purely for decoration. I hung a blood bag and placed my small plasma ball in the middle. 

On the shelf above that, I put one of my small tombstones and two of my skelanimals; My Diego bat dressed as a vampire plush and my Dax the dog mummy costume plush. 

The adjacent wall. This wall used to house more of my dad's car cases, hence the studs all over the wall. Here includes decorations I forgot to take down from last year (hahahaha); the bat specimen I made and this holographic picture frame where the man changes to a skeleton. I also have my skeleton bride and groom. The rope on the wall is a rope light that I keep up year round because it's a bitch to hang up. 

Above this is a cheesecloth ghost I made last year that deflated in storage. What else can you do with a deflated ghost other than hang it? 

The rope light turned on. It alternates between orange and purple.

On this shelf, I have two mini pumpkin pails hanging. In front of the window I have this faux broom that says "Broom parking" on it. 

Further to the left of the wall, behind our armchair is this Jack Skellington mask I made in ceramics class in high school. 

These are on the next wall, a plaque I made with a faux raven head that reads "Nevermore" and this other sort of sign I made that says "If you are reading this then you are unaware of what is creeping up behind you". 

Around my dad's old car case, I put this string of bat lights that I got last weekend. They're so cute! 

Then above my Daenerys poster is another one of the garlands I made and a sign reading "Not every witch lives in Salem" that I made.

Next, is the decor of our picture shelves. On the very top shelf are these jar luminaries I made and a little cheesecloth ghost. 

Later on I added this cute ghost beanie baby I found.

On the next shelf, I put these other cheesecloth ghosts, a "torture" candle as I like to call it and some cute itty bitty (actual) pumpkins. My grocery store had them 4 for $3. The torture candle is a candle I made - a white pillar candle with red wax dripped on it and nails sticking out. I also wrapped faux barbed wire on the shelf below.  For some reason I don't have a picture of it, but there is a strand of orange lights above this shelf. 

On the next shelf, I put this witch luminary and small tombstones on both sides of it. This isn't any old luminary. It has a motion sensor and when turned on, if someone walks by it a witch cackles and says "Happy Halloween."

On the final shelf, I put a bunch of my horror movies and horror/Halloween related anime. 

Lastly we have the top of the tv area.

I have this strand of spider lights. These are the lights I fell off of a ladder trying to hang up.

On top of my tv, I have this faux gothic candle I made with toilet paper/paper towel tubes, hot glue, spray paint, battery powered tea lights and a dollar store plastic platter. I also wrapped a skull and bones necklace around the bottom. I put my skull runner underneath everything. A Halloween skull plate. A skull candle holder upon which I put my mini witch hat (the headband it was on broke ;_; ). A light up skull, a skeleton champagne flute and two of the kawaii mini pumpkins. In the dish in the back, I have my leaf candles (which I posted a picture of in a previous post). 

And that's it!! I hope you all enjoyed seeing my Halloween decorations as well as this post. I've been working on this post for three hours. Yes, I shit you not 3 hours!!! I have some more Halloween posts in progress, I'm hoping to queue a few before I go away for my mini vacation this weekend.
