Anyway, I am posting through the pain (and the folding chair I have to use as a desk chair) because I not only was really excited to share this post with you all, but I have an announcement! I have a small collaboration with a Storenvy shop I love called Worship 13. They make really awesome horror/creepy and Halloween themed jewelry. It's totally my perfect style. You may recall that I featured their Crystal Ball Ring in my February Fashion Lust List post. The store owner has kindly given me a discount code to share with all of you dear readers!! So visit http://worship13.storenvy.com/ and use the code "kawaii13" for 10% off of your order!! I highly recommend checking them out, I honestly love their work so much. You can find this special code any time on the side bar of this blog.
I
am not a gigantic gamer but I am a casual one. I've never been able to
afford the latest games or systems so I don't get to play a lot of
games. I own a Playstation 2 and a Wii. I have a Gameboy Advanced SP
somewhere. I have never played on an XBox. I play a lot of Rock Band, when my friends and I get together
we love doing karaoke on the game together (We love singing Carry On My Wayward Son, all into the same microphone). My favorite games to play
are the adventure console type of games. Like Spyro and Kingdom Hearts.
I grew up playing games on Super
Nintendo (also called SNES), Nintendo 64 and the original Playstation. For those of you that have never played on them, these are what the systems look like:
Super Nintendo |
Nintendo 64 |
OG Sony Playstation |
My earliest memory
of playing video games was sitting in a spare room at my grandma's house
with my aunt playing Paperboy on Super Nintendo. We played a lot of
that, Legend of Zelda and Mortal Kobat when I was a little kid. Also
some Mario and Donkey Kong. I remember one of my uncles had a
really old model Gameboy and he let me play a Sonic game on it all the
time. Every time I saw him, I would beg to play the game. Remember when
you used to have to blow on the cartridges before you played? I miss
that sometimes.

For me, nothing beats the first Spyro game.
It's a game about a little purple dragon who is trying to free his people (dragons of course) and save his home. I love games where you collect things, which was common in games in the 90s (at least with the ones I played). There are so many worlds to visit. In Spyro, You collect gems as well as try to free the frozen dragons. It all leads up to the boss level with Gnasty Gnorc.
There were those annoying little blue thieves that you had to chase down to collect dragon eggs that would chant "na nana na". I was so happy when I could charge/torch those fuckers. The noises all of the enemies make when you defeat them always makes me laugh. I was a little sadistic when killing the enemies.
My favorite world is the Magic
Crafters world, which is the 3rd one right after Peace Keepers. It's so
fun!
My favorite realm is in the very first level/world, Artisans. It's
called Dark Hollow and is located inside of the little hedge maze. It is
the easiest realm in the entire game but I love it. It is really pretty
and I love the music.
I could seriously do walk throughs of this game.
Even though they didn't have the
best graphics, the 90s Playstation games are still my favorites. I
don't know if it's the nostalgia factor or what but there is something
different about them for me compared to more modern games that I just
love. For years I have been trying to track down the old games that I
loved and played a lot. Sadly, my parents got rid of most of them.
Other than Spyro I loved Crash
Bandicoot.
It also has the collecting element, where you collect wumpa
fruit and you go to different worlds. I played this game SO much! I used to always yell "Oooga booga booga" when Aku Aku (the guardian mask character) would pop out.
You go Crash, collect that wumpa fruit!! |
Anyone
remember those demo discs that gaming magazines used to put out? I think some of them also game with the console when you first bought it. Where
it would have a bunch of different games where you could play a few
levels as a preview? I had a bunch of those that I played a lot. I loved
playing this game called Medieval on the demo disc.
I also REALLY loved
Jersey Devil.
I played these little demos all the time. Sadly I never
got to own the full game. It was a cute, sort of spooky game. You collected pumpkins. I think it is rather obvious that I would have liked this game. Ahh I was always destined to be Wednesday Addams.
I went to Blockbuster a lot to
rent games and videos. It's so weird how Blockbuster is non existent
now. They were everywhere when I was a kid! I was constantly renting
videos and games. I always had my local Blockbuster's stock of Sailor
Moon videos rented out. Ahh videos. Kids today will never feel that
struggle of having to rewind a video before watching it. Or worse,
having your VCR eat and ruin the video.
I rented, though sadly never owned a game called Tomba a lot. I did own a demo version of it that I payed a lot too. They really should have just sold me the game, since I rented it so much.
I used to love jumping on the piggies and the butt flower thingies in this game. It was so much fun!
I miss these games so much. My life would be made if I could somehow get copies of Crash Bandicoot, Jersey Devil and Tomba again.
I played so many games in the 90s and early 2000s, I also played, just to name a few: Rugrats, Cool Borders, Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone, various Disney games, and Croc. I played a little Tomb Raider too, though I don't have many memories of it.
I'm pretty stuck in the 90s when
it comes to video games! I actually didn't get into Kingdom Hearts
until last year....let alone any recent games. I would love to check out
Assassin's Creed or a zombie game.
Xoxo
Moon prism power makeup!
Well, you know, I have new games on Nintendo systems if you want to play. And I remember a lot of classic games from then. I got most of them off of virtual arcades on the current systems. In fact, the new Playstations have a lot of the games from them on the network.
ReplyDeleteNice post. How bout a cat post. Are cats your animals or would you be more bat like. heh heh
I know you do, wish I could play. One of my best friends has a Nintendo 64, so I go over her house and play Donkey Kong when she's home and working on things for school xD. The main reason that I want a PS3 is so that I can download the older games.
DeleteThanks! Yes, you're the 2nd or 3rd person to want the cat post so it will happen. Lol they would be a lot more fun if they were bat like. I seriously want a bat as a pet so badly, but I don't want to catch rabies. I'll have to settle on taxidermy.
Ha. Cat posts. Do pet bats (are they a thing?) even have those? Or is it just a common bat thing.
DeleteYeah, cat post is in the process of being written. It's too long lol. Pet bats I don't think are a thing because of the potential for rabies. The question is...if I feed the cats a redbull will it give them wings too?
